Triad Activities on St. Patrick’s Day for the Newly Separated or Divorced
To most people these days, St. Patrick’s Day is simply a celebratory occasion to wear green and drink Irish beverages like Guinness and Jameson.
However, this Irish holiday, originally called the Feast of Saint Patrick, was first created to commemorate Saint Patrick’s bringing Christianity to Ireland and, thus, Irish culture and heritage as a whole.
Today, St. Patrick’s Day has developed into a worldwide celebration complete with parades, costumes, and Irish cuisine and beverages. And it’s one of the few holidays that doesn’t emphasize romance or love in any way, making it the perfect time to get out and have some fun as a newly separated or divorced person.
Here are some ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Triad this year!
Greensboro
Otis & Wawa, located in Downtown Greensboro, is throwing its 9th annual fest and bar crawl on Saturday, March 16th. Register at First National Bank Field from 12-3pm. Grasshopper’s Stadium will host the festival kickoff from 12-4pm, featuring local vendors and live music performances. The bar crawl, which includes more than ten bars and restaurants, runs from 3-9pm.
Twist Lounge is an LGBTQ+ friendly bar. Their party will kick off Friday, March 15th, at 5:30pm. Don’t forget to embrace the holiday spirit and wear your best green outfit! Plus, this is a great chance to network and meet new people whom you might not have had the chance to meet otherwise.
Running of the Leprechauns 5k is happening on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day for those who want to participate in the festivities without skipping the gym. The race begins at Oden Brewing before going around the UNCG campus and finally returning to Oden Brewing for the soon-to-be-famous Leprechaun party.
Pig Pounder Brewery will be hosting a paint and sip class for St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th at 2:00pm. The ticket price includes what you need for the class and one alcoholic drink. Bring your friends and family, or ride solo! You might meet someone new and find a new favorite hobby.
Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem’s best St Patrick’s day weekend bar crawl (March 16th and 17th) is one of the largest pub crawls in Winston-Salem. Seek adventure on the bustling streets with a large group and experience the vibrant local bar scene. Each location is known for its distinct atmosphere and special green beer, so you’ll get to enjoy the best that Winston-Salem has to offer while also embracing St. Paddy’s Day!
High Point
Dive Bar High Point’s St. Patrick’s Day Parking Lot Party, located at 312 N. Elm St., goes from 3-8pm on March 16th. Join in on the fun with DJs and tons of drink specials. This party is a great opportunity for newly divorced or separated people to mingle and make new friends with the help of a little liquid courage.
Regardless of what you choose to do this St. Patrick’s Day, make the most of the holiday and remember to enjoy yourself. While going through a divorce or separation can be incredibly difficult, it can also be an opportunity to learn more about yourself, find new hobbies, and meet new people.
