Winston-Salem Courthouse Lunch Hot-Spots
By Kristina Pisano, Blog Writer, Woodruff Family Law GroupIf you have been in court all morning and you need something to give you an energy boost during lunch, there are several great lunch spots in Winston-Salem that are just a few steps away from the courthouse.
Kabobs On Fourth: Just a five-minute walk from the courthouse, Kabobs on Fourth offers healthy lunch options to get you ready for your afternoon court session. Homemade naan is baked daily, and their tzatziki sauce is fresh, which you can tell when you enjoy it on your chicken or lamb kabobs. They have a special lunch menu from 11:00am-3:00 pm that will get you in and out in no time.
Bib’s Downtown: This for the person who wants some good ole’ southern BBQ. They have lunch options such as beef brisket, pulled pork, hush puppies, collards and a choice between red or white slaw. Bibs is a good choice if you want a relaxed atmosphere in between court sessions. Just be sure you have room for their famous banana pudding or Oreo pudding!
Foothills Brewing: If you have extra time and want to enjoy your break, head to Foothills Pub. Sit in the back pub area and catch up on sports or local news with several TV screens around the restaurant. Order an appetizer of warm pretzels and beer cheese. If you’re headed back to the Courthouse, you may want to skip the pint of their specialty beers, but if you’re done for the day, you can always treat yourself. Be sure to check out the Shane-which is where Chef Shane creates a tasty special sandwich of the day.
Camino Bakery: Offering such delicacies as Nutella hot chocolate, peanut butter cheesecake, cinnamon buns and refreshing drinks like elderflower spritzer. If it has been a long morning in the courthouse, why not treat yourself! They also offer quiche and focaccia for lunch, but I dare you to skip over the yummy sugary options.
Spring House Restaurant: A delightful spot to meet colleagues for lunch. It is inside an old library, so it has a bit of a sophisticated atmosphere. Their menu changes with the season, so their offerings are always fresh and just perfect. For lunch, they offer creative salads, soups, and sandwiches. Trust me; these aren’t your ordinary, run of the mill sandwiches. They have wild boar sloppy joes and park and cheddar, a grown-up version of grilled cheese.
Mission Pizza Napoletana: Sometimes all you need for lunch is a hot and cheesy slice of pizza. Mission Pizza offers the typical styles of pizza, or order one of their creative styles like the Bianca, new haven, fungi and runny egg and even a cauliflower pie. The best part is that they are pretty fast about getting their orders out, so if you are in a rush, they can get you in and out in a flash.
Rusty Bumper Ice Cream: If you need a bit of a cold sweet treat, then take a stroll down to Rusty Bumper. They have banana splits, sundaes, frozen lemonade and fresh baked cookies, to cool you off in between court sessions.
Don’t feel like you have to rely on fast food in between court sessions. Downtown Winston-Salem offers many options from healthy and speedy to the relaxed and unique. These places will make you look forward to court days! Well, at least the lunch break!
